Axis Minors Campaign, no-go?!

I just tried twice to do a long campaign with hungarians, and after the first battle, there is no option for a front, just the French flag, so unfortunately, if it's any country other than the Big 6, I don't think campaigns will work

This also happened with the Communist Chinese in a aborted campaign, too bad....This happen to anyone else, or am I just really unlucky??

I've made generated PLA campaigns work, but it's a bit of a hassle. First, no out-of-game editors. Just so much as save an unchanged file in any of the game editors, and you get dumped in that theater screen.
On the other hand, you can use the battle builder to redo maps and such like without messing things up. So it isn't too bad. Truth to tell, I have a couple of dozen maps saved up for northern Chinese battles (European terrain) and half a dozen for southern fights (jungle); all from making something decent out of random maps...
Btw; you will notice that when you get a working Chinese campaign, the battles are set in central Europe. Go figure.

One work around for both those probs is to design the campaign yourself. Anything random - including campaigns - will always have flaws.

Very strange, evidently something to do with the locations in the code or sometyhing, I can edit a German or Russian campaign all I want with no problem.I just can't let the computer pick it's forces and make the maps, just spoiled by now

Guess I'll have to try out the campaign editor, if I can find the time

Too true, I guess I will do just that!!

I only really play campaigns, with the occasional scenario, have yet to try on-line play, but will get to that sometime! Thanks all for your answers, much appreciated.

The problem with this is that you then get German experiance, morale, and officer ratings. Anytime you use the nationality button to shift to another country you still use the ratings of the country you started with.
thanks, John.

That's true, but with the campaign running as the "Germans", I can safely use wawedit to give the Hungarians the correct Morale and experience, for some reason we can edit the Big 6 campaigns, but everyone else acts strangely, unless you just play w/o editing, I can't go there!! I like having different forces, enemy reinforcements etc.

And using the old SP2 trick of renaming the MOB files doesnt work ? name hungaruian file with the germans number , thats way the only thing is that you will have hungarian gear, with hungarian moral an leaders , but with germans flags ...

You don't have to, actually. Save the battle during the deployment (don't actually start it yet). Rename the savegame files to scenario files, and put them in the scenario directory. You can give the computer whatever terrain and forces you want in the scenario editor; then change the file names back (and move them back). Deploy your own forces and away you go. This is how I got all those China maps; redoing the computer setup for each battle.
Ok, there aren't too many surprises; but at least the forces and objectives make some sense.

Igor, yes thanks, but I wrote the document on Tankheads site on this!!! Just doesn't seem to work with the Hungarians, and a few others for some reason!! I've had no problems with German, Russian, U.S., and Italian campaigns with editing themn, but if you do it with Hungary, or someone else, you will end up with a blank theatre screen when it's time to pick. You can usually tell by the first battle description, if a country campaign can be edited, I've learned. Hungary for some reason will be isued a battle in Hue, which is China and China gets a European map, weird huh?!

If this happens don't even try to edit it, although I haven't tried NOT editing, as I can't deal with the computer pick. Thanks anyhow for the tip
