Hello, The game was working fine with PBEM, now when playing Axis in the Carentan scenario, when I finish my turn the game crashes while saving and sending. The file becomes a dat file instead of bin save game file. I do not think the path is too long, C:\games\Matrix Games\Battles in Normandy....

I've had the same problem. Once it crashed the game and another time it couldn't create a compressed email file. Only see a dat file in the send folder...

I managed to "fix" it by uninstalling the game and reinstalling to the default directory making no changes from what th einstall program wanted to do. Now it still crashes upon "save and send" but it crashes after saving the file as a proper BiN saved game so I can then send it manually.

Disapointing to see no one from Matrix or SSG has bothered to post a response, though....Not too encouraging.

They are busy starving to death as opressed wargame programmers.

Yes, but while they're starving to death, they could just send a message saying "we're aware of it" or "we've read about your problem and are working on it" or "we can't reproduce your problem" or ...

Feedback does wonders for customer service levels!

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the lateness of this reply. There is a issue when installing to non-default directories - if the path is longer than the default one, then the program has troubles passing the correct data to the compression routines (and the autoemailer). For a temporary fix, install to the default directory. We have fixed this issue for the patch.

Thanks for the info.

Yes, the problem seems to have gone away now that I've re-installed the game to the default location.

I installed to the default directory, but the game always crashes when I set up a secure game and hit the send file button. A file with the .dat extension is created, but that doesn't seem to work.

I tried reinstalling it, just to make sure the default directory was used, but no dice.

Is there any information I could give you that would help solve this problem?

Hi Todd,

Can you tell me the location of your BIN installation? (ie C:\Matrix Games\Battles In Normandy\)

When you say you tried re-installing it, but no dice, do you mean that you couldnt reinstall it, or that you reinstalled but it made no effect?

Lastly, can you give some more detail about the steps you are using to set up the email game? (eg What scenario are you using etc etc?)

The directory is C:\Matrix Games\Battles In Normandy\

I reinstalled it fine, but the problem still remains.

Steps:

1) select the scenario
2) click set up email game
3) enter email info
4) click on accept email game
5) click on start secure game
6) click on exit and send

I think this is the way to do it, but it crashes at this point.

When you say it crashes at this point, what crash message do you get? Also, what email client are you using?
