I downloaded the eps, I"m not good at waiting, who would I mail? I suppose I could ask them to generate some 3 shots but I doubt they would do it.
We.. I"m gonna start with the olympic carrier, I can take the movie apart frame by frame and hopefully built a close to accurate ship.
I"m trying to decide.. if I should push starshatter and built 5000 poly ships or keep it under 3000......
I guess under 3000 would be the best for al ot of ships.. but.. with the new graphics cards...
I want to do interiors for these ships.. give em a REAL feel so you can look inside and see people and stuff.
I suppose I could create 2 lods.. the normal game one, and a super high poly(5000-10000k close one) but I hate lods.. so much bloody work

W00t. And I'm glad to see you're starting to enjoy the series. I must say the way they worked out things so far was amazing. As for reference pics, I think there's a Battelstar galactica game out there (commercial) - how about looking there for reference pics?

Oh, right
for the XBox and PS2.
Unfortunately the Battlestar is modeled on the original one, not the one from the new series. However, it's old-school vipers look pretty good (but I thought someone was doing an old-school BSG mod around here at some point that had some nice models already done?).

Speculation: the Galactica was a museum ship well past its time. It's quite possible that some of the armor was removed for replacements on other ships of similar age and design which were still in active service, or that damaged armor was removed and not replaced, or that the plates were removed at the time of attack for some sort of maintenence or alteration. I can't remember what exactly the situation of the ship was - was it sort of on duty and about to become a permenant museum exhibit, or already a museum, or going to be scrapped, or what? Anyway, if it was just leaving active duty to be a museum ship as I remember the weapons and any large, still-useful equipment was probably going to be removed.

Happy to help. Too bad I don't know where to find much of the Mk 5. Ugly ass ship, anyway. Only good for being the first-episode cannonfodder it was.

This may be helpfull for you, this is the MK2 Viper from the new series in 3ds format is a low-poly mesh with nice textures on it.
MK2 Viper (right click to dowload)
Right clik on the link and dowload, it is a zip file (i had to change the extensión in to jpg because my free host don't allow me to upload zip files)
Here's the creator's website.

its not bad
but the textures are nowhere near the level we need for this mod, so i"m making those from scratch, and there is no pit, plus.. way to many faces on the engines
kind of odd he would use so many on the engines when he used so few on other parts

Galactica was being converted into a mueseum, and she was decomisioned on the eve of the attack. i think the hull plating is just for key sections. the only armaments that were removed from galactica was all the munitions for the rail guns, her missles. and if you take a look you will notice that the flight pod that has been closed of with glass has no railguns on it. that pod was converted into a showroom, an the hanger an lauchpods on that side of the ship were converted into a gift shop lol. so that pod i useless to them unles the remove all the rubbish lol.
also rember we know that the other newer battlestars look more or less the same as galactica, they are missing hull segments also, so it must be part of the design. we have seen a new generation battles star, the hulk of one was drifting near caprica when helo an boomer make there approcah and we see basestars still attacking caprica
