Hello!
I bought this game in response to some favorable posts on this forum: thanks for the informed and / or enthusiastic recomendations and otherwise. I am entirely pleased, thank you. Ive played through the tutorial twice, sort of mostly, and I almost understand a few concepts. Im reading the manual tutorial on another screen as I play. Although the learning curve is pretty daunting, I can tell that if I actually learn how to play it, this could be one of the most fantistic wargames Ive ever layed mouse on. As it were. If I ever grasp this games' intricacies, God help my free time.
Cheers

Welcome.
I would advise you to pick up an apponant for a PBEM game
to learn how to get stomped all over the map for a while as
this is the most crucial way to learn the game mechanics and
not pick up the bad habits the AI teaches you.[:D]

Hmmmm. Congrats on buying this great game. However, without getting into classified info, just make sure you get some rest (from witp)before you pilot that aircraft carrier or whatever it is you do.... and thanks for whatever that is.[&o]

Yes a Pbem opponent is so much better Vic-Ta-Bac but be careful some of these guy`s are ruthless and will delight in sending your carriers to Davy Jone`s Locker if they do it early it will be a loooong game as the Japanese right CMDRMCTOAST[:D][:D][:D]

AI is sufficent for learning game mechanics and target practice...but is no opponent worthy to spend 1600+ turns playing against.
Welcome to the lifestyle...um...I mean club. [;)]

Think we should wait to start any new games untill after the patch is out? I got one that is supposed to start on Monday but if we will have to start over when the game gets patched. I would just as soon wait untill it came out.

1. Can I play PBEM if I have V1.00 and my opponent V1.30 (or any other) ?
2. Which side to take on my first PBEM game ?

I think the game is unstable using different versions and I would suggest
the allies to start so you don't have to figure out the jap industry.

Well the guy with the patches will have issues fixed and have an advantage
for one but not sure on the platform stability issues.

I would be VERY surprised if you could do that. 1.3 adds more information to the save file, which is the zones of control. As the 1.0 doesn't know about that, that will -probably- cause problems.

No you can not do this. After a few turns you will start to see very crazy things happen with the combat reports and many other things. Both players have to start the game in the same version and upgrade at thr same time.
