this is a super cool 76 turn game, and while I am playing a guy who is like 200 wins ahead of me, Kingpin and half of those are against me, ok that might be alittle high, I am loving this scenario! As the Allies you get a great big to choose from in dropping your paras, I dropped 101 on Carantan, as they are still getting one reg in from the sea, the 82 to cut the penninsula other side of the swamps, brits between St lo and Beayuea. sp?
Took Carentan on fturn two, and have my oponent realling as My troops on turn one only hit Utah and Gold...wow you bet they are safe and next turn you can expand to Gold Sword and Omaha... his troops are almost pcketed, and definately cut off from supplies as they flee toward the rear crying .."where are are panzers? and where are they.. racing through interdicted hedgeerow country and trying to cross enemy terrain.. remember after I controll all the area between StLo and Beayaue the movement rates for these units drops off.. another benifits is to atttack the Brits he must expose himself in the flats in front on Caen.. a great start to a great scenario.... waiting for the counter attack on turn three, and as we agrea to randum weather, rained and even thought nice and clear tomorrow it is a mud turn. weee!!! could we have more fun ?

Hmmm... Interesting view. I know the purpose of thise scenario is to stray from the historical theme, but man, your really doing it! Hope everything works out for you.

Well, not too much, the Brits just are seeing the error of taking Caen in stage one.. lose from those constrants I focus on two very safe heavily bombarded zones that expand on turns two and three. the para are minimally adjusted from actual goals, since more troops and support are avail taking st mere Eglise is no longer a huge t1 obj, moving 101 to attack Carantan is. since my experienc with the brits is they get stuck too easily without adiquate artilery, I figure putting them into action sooner and safer against weaker forces will be helpful. and k supplies are horendous, what would you do as Gerry when you are interdicted or cut directly in allied troops soutn of Carantan and north of St. LO ?not inluding those at the end of the peninsula. If I force German to attack I have already created the perfect supply trap. he spends supplies to move/ to attack and to dig in.. what does he do? I am still waiting, but my oponent is good, really good and I expect he will release everthing to punish the para cutting the supplies, brits, and attempt to nible on the edge of the Brits coming ashore, andd the unknown weather is GREAT.... my big beaf is tooo much info. Why recreat history when you can re-write it?

Does this imply that the variant is a bit unbalanced when you have so much choice, or has your opponent just made some mistakes?

remember he starts out with many frozen units...
and as I predicted two strong panzers struck, as well as the infantry normally seen in Carentan, so he has a wall up from St LO to the coast.. actually a little north, and a group blocking the coastal access to Cherburg. and I am stuck with shitty mud turn after his counter attack... only payoff is big inland gain in area south of Carantan and omaha..
he is trying to decide if he can resue the 716 and some other troops.. tough call, and my paras could easily have scattered too far, and been toast, so it was a good graces type move, and if I didn't get Carentan.. and he was able to block me at utah I would have been really tough shape

so to answer your ?, I see it as balanced but much more fluid he has more troops and poorer troops.. except his armor, and they have few non timed replacements.. I was surprized to see both Panzer Lehr and Hitler Youth divs attacking the Brits between Beayou and St LO.. he got some poor rools or I would be lementing 4 dead units.. instead of none for me .. the biggest help is the no loses on the beaches....
If I could get a long streatch of clear dry weather I'll be ok. don't see how he can defend in the open area around Cean without 12ss

also this was my 4the turn, so he had only two turns before my last report.. so no mistakes n his part, just no troops in Carentan

Maybe I should start an AAR..? The next day after mud, good gains and kingpin may be in trouble in Penninsula, and I am well inland toward St. LO at end of my t5, and attacking toward Cean as he left it vulnerable with Leah and 12ss in the Hedgrows .. btw killed a aa unit nothing is quite as nice as that, those guys can really ruin your day in so many ways.
