Community Site Update

Okay phase one is done.

We are on the list and have been accepted, still not eta as to when it will be ready but we have got it at least.

For those of you who are wondering, its going to be like this

www.bcfiles.com

Free hosting/uploading of mods, free dowloading of mods, onlien tutorials, uploads for screens, tutorials, anything else, top 5 files, downloads.. all that stuff, the perfect site for keeping all the starshatter information in a central place, not to mention all the stuff I can upload and now people can actually get.

All the information here can be archived, so its not lost when it rolls off the second page of these forums

Right now I need to know who here is up to the task of becomming central to the starshatter community,

i"m going to need community reps, staff for uploading / organizing news, moderators to make sure it runs nicly, and some advisors for advisin additions and what not

We also need an idea of what kind of things the site needs, what kinds of sections and such.

This is what they suggested

Might be helpfull to start brainstorming with the community on mod catagories both major and minor. For example, a map catagory, where custom maps are with sub cats for stand alone planets, asteroids stars comets ect. What races are common ect.

Gathering links for forums, mods sites, clans wouldn't be a bad idea either. Alerting the major mod teams to prepare news releases also a good idea.

This site will be -very- public, bcfiles gets more hits per day then all our mod sites since the day of their release combined, so if you want publicity, this is it.

One last thing, this staff will be a mature repesentation of the community.

well, i dont know if this guy is still doing the mod since the site hasnt been updated in a while but heres a website for a mod called Shattered Planet. Its got a pretty cool story and it would be a shame if it was never finished or realeased.

Anyway, heres the site

those are all the sites i could find, but i've got some quick ideas/ suggestions

for downloads you should try to pt the demo on and patches if posssible. Maybe the mod-archiver too and any other downloads from starshatter.com also, it would be nice to have a categorized screenshot section

Hegamoney forces:
Fighters (not in game but strictly the ship)
Capships (not in game but strictly the ship)
Capships in action
Fighters in action

Force: Space :
Fighters (not in game but strictly the ship)
Capships (not in game but strictly the ship)
Fighters in action
Capships in action

Within each capship section their should be a seperate sec. for carriers, figates, and destroyers.

Screen shots of misc. ships ie- farcasters, stations, zolon, pirate, freighters, mines

Screenshots of atmospheric play
Screenshot Sections for different mods
Misc Screenshots ie. main screen, breifings stuff like that

Also, it might be a good idea to get a bunch of screens from the game with stock ships, theres only about 22, alot of games have over 100 screenshots on gamespot.

same organization mathod for downloads page would be nice

yea, tutorial wise it would be great to have some magic tutorials and some def'ing tutorials too. I can find tutorials but i have to got from site to site, it would be great to have one place with everything so i dont have to open up 5 browsers for one tutorial :)

A game info page would be nice, maybe you could get permission to use gamespots review, if not, link to it. Starshatter.com has info about the game, but again, if this is a central site, maybe it should be here two, even if its just copied and pasted from Starshatter.com [w/ milos permission on course ( : ]

hrm... what else

maybe some battle tactics, there was a thread around here somewhere, and explanation of certain game aspects for noods, emcom sys. and dif. missle types, managing subsystems, and explain assalting starbases on the ground, thats kinda a weird thing. You could just quickly throw in hit the building or runway for max damage or something like that. For targeting you could bring up targeting subsystems and the fusion especially. Throw in the capital ship busting techniques that are in the thread such as flying into the flightbay or getting really close so you pass throgh the shield. You know, all that stuff lol

Oh yea, in the screenshots section maybe you should include pics. of planetary structures, i forgot that

yea, a little more on the screenshots, as i said try to get a bunch of the dif. game aspects , when im looking at buying a game i really like to look at a lot of screenshots to make sure i like the way it looks. Also, maybe we could shoot for getting a few clips of the game put onto the site. Gamespot has movies for over half of the games (starshatters not one) and when im surfing through Gamespot checkin out new games to purchase movies are about 10 times better than screenshots. Just a suggestion.

I'd be happy to participate in any way. As you have noticed, time is a luxury, but I do get some. I can at least be a moderator and even participate in file management.
Where do we sign in?

By your dedication you should be in on this project of Damocles's!

Neat website!

Yeah, that option sounds the cleanest and best and if the information is presented in a similar way, perhaps there will be even an official recognition by Matrix games/Destroyer studios of that community website of yours Damocles.
It would be wise to make it as good as possible.
Again, count me in!!!

Starshatter Psycho Central?

How about "Starshatter Psycho Central"? [:D]
Looks neat... or "Starshatter Command", if you are looking for something more "classic".
Finnaly, "Starshatter Central" is probably what most people would expect...[:'(]
