Never enough time.

I'm playing MC WatchTower, as I have been for a while now. I chose to invade Tulgai, and it went alright, considering I'm pretty new at this. Adopted a tactic, of moving up, till my guys got pinned, then laying waste to the Japs that exposed themselves with artillery, then move up to finish the job. Well, I finished the campaign, in control of everything except the far hill to the east, and the other one closest to that.. Although I was only one hex away from it when the round ended, and there was no opposition in sight. I was nowhere close to the hill though.
How can you cross that much space, without conducting some sort of mass suicide charge towards that hill? I trapped a good portion of their forces to the north, and cut them off, then proceeded to wipe out each of their squads. The radio tower was easy enough, as was the other VP in the center of the map. The factory area VP was unguarded and i rushed troops from the north to it on turn 13. Now I did sit in the center VP, Governor's mansion isn't it? Didn't have many squads, and Japs were sneaking in from all sides to hammer my troops, so I didn't advance till late in the game. Is the only solution to send more troops east, and push towards the hill a bit faster? Finally score was something like..

And apparently this was failure to achieve all my goals.
