One way to play the Allies

Hey everyone.
Not too sure how this is going to be received with UV now assuming the "little brother" role to WitP, but I thought I'd go ahead and make the offer...
I'm going to play Scenario 19 as the Allies from start to finish, but this time it'll be a first for me - vs. the AI. The reason I'm doing this is to work out a few answers to questions and generally get some practice in. I'm doing this vs. the AI as I can get more turns/day in. Which brings me to the question at hand.
How many of the readers/players would be interested in following/commenting on the game? I would post the AAR under the title of "Training Day" and post how to do things like forecast long range strategic goals, how to use submarines, geting the most out of your aircraft, etc; during a game situation. Also, answering questions as we would move along from May 42 till Dec 43.

As a relative newby to the game I would definitely be interested in following your AAR. [&o]

I've mainly played the AI in the past for the same reasons as you, but to be honest, I think reading "vs the AI" AAR's is about as interesting as watching a soccer game with only one team on the pitch. I mean no disrespect, but no matter what you do, you're gonna win.

No disrespect taken at all (I gave up my ego when my hair gave up its brown color for ...ahem... "highlights"). And you're right about AARs vs. the AI - I'm glad you brought this point up. The focus of this AAR wouldn't about whether or not I 'win" but what it takes to put together operations and how to keep goals in mind with the forces at hand. I've posted a few AARs about what I do in PBEM, and the excitement of the battles (and running stories) can be found there.
Again, the point would be to help players see the "other side of the game" - force management for an eighteen month campaign. [:)]

I would follow your reports with interest. I cannot play PBEM games due to work/family commitments.
I have found that playing the AI as the USN it is almost impossible to lose due to the ships/air power that comes through after Jan 43. However I have only played at the "Historical" difficulty level up to now, are the two harder settings more realistic?

Well, you're my kind of player then, Phil [:)]. But I guess the point Im trying to make is that the choices you (we) make doesn't matter, as there will be no penalty for failure. All your strategies will be successful, by default. Ahhh, I remember the days of youth when I still took pride in deafeating AI's. Never such innocence again [:(].
Anyway, don't listen to me...whatever works for you!

Sorry, folks...the Training Day scenario will have to wait, perhaps until after the holidays...also, I'm at a critical phase vs. Tabpub - so all my efforts will have to be concentrated against him (but don't tell him that, ok? [:D]) and the AARs from that game are about to get a bit more involved.

How about this...play as the IJN? Has anyone ever beaten an opponent or the AI as IJN in scenario 19? Playing as US is a no brainer...[>:]

To answer your question Barry, I have won PBEM as Japan. Senario 17 and 19. I have lost as the Allies also.
