Scenario 7 IJN Subs

I've played the IJN in a couple of long scenarios now and the IJN subs have scored a few impressive kills. But they have in no way been a major factor in any of the games.
Now I'm playing Scen 7 as the IJN and my subs are really raising cane with the USN. I've not been keeping a strick count but so far (8/21/42) they've torpedoed at least 2 cruisers, 4 destroyers, a couple of minesweeps/corvettes and 10+ AP/AKs. I don't know about the cruisers (FOW) but 3 DDs, the minesweeps, and 7 AP/AKs have been sunk for sure. Not that I'm complaining but it really seems a bit much.
I was wondering if anybody else has had this sort of thing go on with Scenario 7 specifically ( or in some other Scenario ). Kinda half wondering if maybe the code writers put in a couple of lines to make the IJN subs extra fearsome just for this scenario?

{IMHO this time frame is really the only time the IJN sub force shown (and not that brightly) during the whole war sinking WASP AND JUNEAU and damaging SARATOGA and NORTH CAROLINA in the space of 3 months or so. I believe that it cost them 6 pigboats during the same time though}

You are just having a good run of luck. Are you playing the AI? Don't put much stock in it if you are. A good human opponent knows how to keep Japanese subs at bay. Do you have the optional rule for Japanese sub doctrine on? That will make a difference as well.

Actually this is a PBEM game and the run of torpedoed USN ships continues. Have only had one boat damaged seriously and it made it back to port...never seen anything like this in either PBEM or against the AI. But I guess I won't look a gift horse in the mouth as it's just about the only thing going my way so far.[&o][&o][&o]
