When my new team, actually needed medium titans suited mainly for close and short range, i found four of my older Titan designs: The Beast (C,S), the Katana (C,S), the Prominence (S,M) and the Leviathan (C,S). I took a closer look at the configuration and made some great improvements in armor, heat reduction, firepower, defense ... Here are the improved versions:

Well, it's my first close combat Titan i made, and it served me well, but it had problems with heat (through the lasers) and the armor was too thin. Now, it can hold out longer in meele, but it's armor is still only average compared with other medium Titans. Against other close combat Titans, it will be inferior, but it's a serious threat for range-combat titans, once in the same hex ...

Not much to say. It's suited for close range combat, but is most effective when on point blank range. The Tesla bolt and the chainsaw are the main weapons, and the flamethrower and medium laser support them while recharging. The armor is not really very thick, so you have to go in, place a strike on the enemy, go out and go in again to avoid taking too much damage from close combat weapons. However, once the armor is broken, the damage control system helps to avoid critical damage.

This Titan is a supposed to support the close combat Titans from medium range with the plasma gun.It may sound strange, but this Titan's strenght is it's armor. It is above average, so it can also compete in close combat (with support from the E.M.P. and the pulse laser).

The Leviathan is possibly the best Titan iv'e ever made. This one scare me, when it appears on the battlefield. It's greatest strenght is it's jumping ability, which makes it a very agile fighter. Once in close combat, where all the weapons are brought to bear, it makes short work of anything and anyone. The Titan can also work as a spotter for G.M.H. Titans, due to it's highly developed scanners.

Ok, i just saw the unoffical reworked Titan database. Didn't know that two of my Titans had been implented and improved a while before ...

Although your new Katana is quite different from the one that's in the database; Did the older one have NBs?

One instead of the TB, and a PL instead of the ML.

That's quite a big change, i think. It fully turns around the original purpose of the titan. And i think, there are already enough medium Titans with NBs. Maybe you could rename your version of the Katana, because it's not quite the same Titan it was originally.

PS: Some time ago, my squad was fighting against a Katana (your version) and a Katana MKII (A strange coincidence, i know). However, while the Katana was just tying to kill my ANDROID with it's NB ( [:D]), the Katana MKII simply managed this by shooting off the head with it's TB. End of story. [;)]

Maybe you could rename your version of the Katana, because it's not quite the same Titan it was originally.

No time soon, the database is 'finished'.... for now. May change it if I get the itch to increase the number of titans agian.

It should have tried to close and go HtH, IF it had a green scan. Larkin adjusted some code in the last patch to help out these situations, but a green scan is required to know the race of the jock. If the AI didn't have a green scan on you, how was it suppose to know you were an android? Remember, the AI don't 'cheat' in this game. [:D]... If you were a replicant... you wouldn't have the same story to tell... hehehe[;)]

The original had 1NB, 1PL, 1CS, 1FT. The changes were significant. In both upgrades.

BTW, a Replicant doesn't show as Replicant in a green scan. It shows as Human, as they're intrinsically similar.

But the tweaks Larkin put in, treats Humans and Replicants identically, IIRC.

Precisely because of that detail. Wouldn't want the AI to "cheat", right?

Swapped one of the LLs in the extended db version for a shield2. It can't fire both LLs without overheating when still, let alone when running - and it is a CC titan. This version can recycle the LL at full speed when running with shield on, barely overheating.
Minor armor improvement too.

Bah, efficient cooling is for the little kiddies ... Real men do only use Titans that overheat within the first 3 steps ... [:D]
