aircraft upgrade paths

Is there a reference thread or something on the above for easy viewing?
Like A6M2-A6M3a-A6M5 etc would be nice.
Also, I believe the upgrade paths are not uniform, e.g. my 64th Sentai Ki-43 Ibs upgrade to Ki-43 IIa while 65th Sentai Ki-43 Ibs upgrade to Ki-61 Tonys. Is there a reason for this? Perhaps for historical accuracy??

That is correct, some units follow the generic upgrade path, others have hardcoded paths set due to historic data.
Only way to be sure is look at the units.

Thanks Mr Frag, don't suppose there's an easily accessible database where I can check out the upgrade paths for various Allied and Japan units other than clicking on each one manually?

Nope. You have to do it the hard way.

look at Spooky's site
http://mathubert.free.fr/
under Files then misc there are a number of spreadsheets for both allied and japanese. I personnaly like Gunnar's file for the Japanese; it not only shows thed upgrade paths, it has about all that you would ever want to know about Japanese a/c production data
