Death of thousands 5" pins cut - Kerensky versus IrrGang
Posted: Wed Dec 29, 2004 11:02 pm
Hi,
My first PBEM against: IrrGang , and also my first PBEM ever. I am fairly newbie, having played 1 month as South East Commander
But I played nearly the Full war in charge of Malaya/ABDA/China in PacWar :p
We are playing Scen 15. I will have the great role of the allied punchbag
Nothing really special about house rules, we just together agreed that the game isn't suit to depict Japanese-Russian conflict so we keep still on this front, No US movement in Pacific, No Japanese landing West of Singapour, Singapour is fair game, really, just come in, please....
The only peculiarity is that I asked my brother for a joint Allied Command, I am in charge of the ABDA, India, South East Asia and China and he take care of Australia, USA and Solomon, until things get really on and I got back the Aussies...
From the start I have the very historical fighting over the use of combined asset and especially Philippines defense, and instantly dubbed my bros Mac Jarthur after his : " I will keep all my ships and subs in Manilla, he wont hurt them there as he will have too many things to bomb first". I made some comment about Subs being fairly useless fighting invasion from open decked dry docks... But he assume his decision with a very MC way
Funny thing is he get it right :p
The CW strategy is simple: FIGHT, I am planning to mass in Burma near Rangoon, Fight for Singapour, Fight for DEI. Every RN ships are doomed to die in combat bringing as many japaneses as they can with them. CHina will be used for intensive city bombing ASAP ( in fact from turn 1, except japanese IL4 are afraid of the dark and refuse to bomb Hanoï
) US B17 from Clark are aiming at a psychological first blood by targeting the Oil in Tienan but they cannot find the target either....
I apologize to WITPDude for greatly taking on his example for my AAR format...

This one come from the blue, the devious air assault was somewhat tricked by the astute redeploiment of an I-16 squadron, it exact quite a toll on the unescorted transport. Too bad they didn't turn back as they should have... In fact checking the actual intel I see no loss to thoses squadrons wich is weird as I remember seeing something about air combat during turn.. Perhaps my damn eyes... All in all they are now stuck deep behind my lines with a 2 full chinese corps and a cavalry unit ready to march in and kill them... Too bad :p

Kodak moment of the joint command:

Admiral Van Nathman "Some of your ships ? wich ones ?"

Also I started ordering a massive regrouping of ABDA forces in Tarakan. ML are planned operation in straits too... As naming operation seems the thrill I named the ABDA counter-attack "Operation Frenzied Flying Ducthmen", hope I dont turn up with ghost ships
