Hi Dracko.

I believe command posts are like HQs in that they aid in rallying and reducing suppression but their area of effect is the whole map as opposed to the more limited area of effect around an HQ. Command Posts don't move. HQs do. I'm sure there are other differences, but those are all I know of off the top of my head.

From the PDF file located in your SPWAW directory entitled "SPWaW-Special Scenario Designer Units in Norway OOB 86.pdf":

PLT-CPY POST (platoon/company command post)
„Emplacement“ class unit. Serves as very small sized „platoon or company“ command post, for use as backbone to entrenched units in DEFEND scenarios.
Unarmed and loadable (10) unit with movement allowance of 1.
As all „emplacement“ class units, this provides morale benefits to any unit within range of 3 hexes.

Hi Dracko.

I got a little more clarification. On page 34 of the SPWAW manual it states:
HQ "tents" (renamed “Command Posts”) now help stiffen defenses by bonus suppression
removal.

FlashFyreSP over on SPWAW Depot offered further clarification:
A CP (or HQ Tent) removes suppression from units within 5 hexes of it, and gives a morale benefit as well.

If you need more information, try doing a search on the term "Command Post" and set the Results that match setting to Exact Phrase from All Words.

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond.

The more I play the game and learn how to use the units, it gets more fun. Just wish there was a good way to play a human opponent other than PBEM.

Hotseat would be the best way to go.
Otherwise - hold a LAN party at your house.
It's always best to see the look on yuor oppoents face whle you beat his butt.

PBEM is pretty good if you can find an opponent able to do a few turns a day. [:D]

Note: The bonus suppression removal is inherent to the unit class which is "Emplacement". The units that use this class (HQ tent, Cpy post ect.) only differ in that they may be immobile or mobile units, have different armament, different unit icons ect.

Unfortunately the bonus suppression removal occurs AFTER the game turn has ended, when IMHO it´s actually too late! [:(] A unit in entrenchment still will retreat when it has enough supression and an "Emplacemnt" unit will not prevent this. The emplacemnt unit can be best used in a defense farther back to help rallying already routing units.
