Network behind firewall/NAT

Hello,
I tried to host a game behind a firewall/NAT server.
I redirected (local) port 1944 (TCP and UDP) through to my game machine,
but it didn't work.
Is there a way to make this work?
Which ports and protocols are involved in client and host?

In the past I have never been able to join a game (2 different opponents) but always was able to host. If nothing else works try joining a session started by your opponent.

The ability to host from behind a firewall often boils down to individual routers/servers. In most cases you cannot. Where you cannot, you will have to turn off your firewall for the duration of your online game.

When the network protocol is documented,
I could try to configure things to make it work.
Now that most people move to broadband with routers,
and their working/gaming computer in a LAN,
it is important to make this work, I think.

Its pretty simple really.
HTTR uses port 1944 by default.
To join:
The port must be open for outgoing connections.
If you don't know how to set up for hosting you should be able to at least join.
To Host:
The port must be open for incomming connections.
This is where most people with routers etc come a cropper.
On mine for instance (A billion 743ge, I'm at work but I htink thats right).,I opened the port to both incommming and outgoing connections but I then also forwaded port 1944 to my machine, in my case there is a setup screen where you set a port and the IP of the machine to forward any incomming requests to. For this to work all the machines on my network have static IP's.
Oh - forgot. Open for TCP, can't remember off the top of my head if UDP needs to be available as well, try it if it does not work.
Does that help?

That is what I did, forwarding port 1944 to my machine.
(To be sure I did this for both TCP and UDP).
The connection didn't work for my partner,
but on afterthought, it didn't work at first
when I wanted to join his game until he
opened his firewall.
So probably the first failure wasn't on my side,
but on his side.
We should try again.
