Hullo,

What might be the best way to protect a base and the onloading AK's in it?

- 100% CAP set to range 1
- Sweep set to range 1
- 100% CAP with base as objective

Escort (no target) with CAP level at 90%.

100% CAP defaults to LR CAP, which is bad if that's not what you want. Cruft has it, Escort, no target, with 90% CAP. Not sure that the range matters in this case. I'd leave it on whatever I had it on before, to keep from having to remember to set it back.

Having a surface TF in the same hex with BB/cruisers. 90% of the air attacks will be aimed at it.

Yesterday, I saw CA HMS Exeter blow up and sink after being hit by a 100kg bomb thrown by a Ki-48 Lily, so this tactic may be costy. First time I saw a ammo explosion with such a small bomb, that should have bounced on the armor. But such things happen in real life.

I wonder if this is the first time I saw a Lily sink something alone.

Anyway, if you're Japanese and during the first months of the game, covering your invasion TF with CA/BB surface TF will protect them from Allied ships and planes at a very little cost.

If you have only planes, so escort 90% is the best order.

Oh, and if you also have bombers/attack a/c at this base, do remember to stand them down so they don't all rush off and get themselves shot down because they had no escort....
