sea units & movement

Post by Atlantikwall »

I read that fleets have a range of 12 and subs have 8 movement points. Can they really go that far in one turn or is this the total range untill they have to return to a port for further supplies? Hard to imagine that a feet could go from UK to India in one turn and subs would already make it into the Red Sea.

Can you "block" any naval movement by a enemy fleet? Or can fleets also "blitz" a sea territory like mechanized can on land areas?

What´s about subs? Can they dive through a territory with enemy units and attack another one within range?

When calculating range for naval units keep in mind that many sea "territories" use 2 movement points. Double-line borders between sea areas signify you have to spend 2 movement points to cross them (single line - 1 point). So, no naval unit can cross from UK to India in one turn. UK => Med in one turn, Med => India in the next is the best you can do.

As for your second and third questions, simple answer would be that there is naval opportunity fire, but it's really more complicated than that [;)]
