Japanese combat engineers

As far as I can remember, the Japs have Engineer Rgt's, Naval Construction Bn's and Naval Pioneer Bn's.
All these units have army squad included.
Do they all help reducing Allied fortifications and to what extent?
Is it useful to employ more than one combat Engineer to that purpose?

They definately help and the more the merrier as they destroy fortifications
faster though I am not sure on the percentages for different unit types.

You want to use the units that have an assault value. That is; Naval pioneers and organic engineer units that are attached to infantry divisions. Don't use constructions units, they are not combat units and I don't think they will contribute much if anything at all This goes for Allied Seabees and EAB units as well. They are not combat units.

not entirely true

while the seabees are not pure de facto combat units per se, they had no problems defending themselves

thats part of y theyre called seabeas

they work hard and build, and theyl leave u alone if u leave them alone, but if u bug em, theyll come at u with a nasty sting

Marky,

Just because units were issued rifles does not mean they are combat units. That was not the purpose of Seabees. Seabee units generally consisted of older personell taken from civilian construction and engineering trades. To consider them combat troops in any but the most last ditch effort would have been suicide.

Anyways we are talking about assaulting fortifications, not defense. In real life and in game terms you would only use troops that have been trained for that. Seabees were most definitely not trained as front line troops and I don't think you could find any example of them being used for this purpose. They never were intended to be combat engineers. In the game, seabees have no assault values assigned that I know of. They are not for reducing fortifications.
