When?

Dear Experts,
I'm new. I tried the tutorial. I haven't seen any video clips before or after the scenario. When are the video clips that are in the Snd/Stream folder SUPPOSED to play? Also, the Holder.txt in that folder says delete this. Is that an instruction to delete that file, or what?
Hoping to see some videos...[:)]
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
As far as I know, video playback works in PBEM games only, and allows you to see what happened during your opponents turn.
Yes, you may delete the holder file.
If you ever have any trouble with the game (weird quirks, etc), delete the steel.prf file in the SAVES folder. The game will generate a new one, although you will have to reset your peferences.

When you "Quit Deploy" during a campaign, you get a screen with a "Continue" button, that has a small video clip, before the battle starts. These might be the videos mentioned.

AFAIK - the video files only play during the mission briefing portion of campaign games - not during scenarios.

ditto + holder.txt is put there because the installer needs to have the folder contain something. After installation it serves no purpose.

So......
The video files in the stream folder are only for campaigns, and if I want the before/after videos for each scenario I need to have the SP3 cd in the cd drive? Correct?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike.
A few questions--Are you running SP3 or SP:WAW? Are you running off of CD?
I was under the impression that SPWAW only runs off the hard drive.
You will only see the videos before you run a scenario as part of a campaign. If you play the campaign "From Utah to the Rhine" for example, you will see video of US Troops before each scenario that is part of that campaign.
If you want to look at the video files in the video directory, you need to download Rad Video Tools from:
http://www.radgametools.com It's a free download.

Dear Guys,
I run SPWAW from the HD. The manual talks about using the SP3 cd to get video clips. I assume these play before and after each scenario, but am not sure. Is that feature no longer a part of SPWAW? I want to get an SP3 disk if it will give me video clips when I do a scenario. If it has no connection whatsoever to the SPWAW game now, I won't buy an SP3.
Is that clear?
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike.
What page of the manual are you getting that from? I did a search in the manual for SP3 and only found 3 instances--none of which related to the video. If you want video clips before a scenario and getting them in a campaign is not sufficient for you then you probably do want to consider SP3 if it can do what you think it will. I don't know for sure. I've never played Steel Panthers III.
