Will it be possible to convert AK's to AD's.

Yes, that is something hardcoded into the game. Any large AK can convert to the ship classes specified. That said, if one were to replace the conversion AD class with say, a battleship class, then All AD conversions would end up producing a battleship.

yuh ?

You started with yes, then gave an example that sounds like a way around the hardcoding ...

AKs convert to I think 6 different classes, the AD among them. When it converts, it converts to class XXX. Now the OOB has the AD in the class specificed for the hardcoded AD. However, if in the OOB you put say, a Nevada class BB, then when you click "Convert to AD", instead of getting a Black Hawk class AD, you get a Nevada class BB.

Except as the Japanese. They can not convert AK's to AD's. They get 3 for the entire game. That is hardcoded.

Aye. Pissant little torpedo transports aren't even worth me expending ordnance on. [:D]

True, they have a very limited range and must be milk cowed forward, but once into a forward area, it sure is nice to have them at the smaller forward bases to re-arm torpedos on destroyers.[:-]

I hate nothing more than having to go all the way back to Truk to reload torpedos from the south Pac or Central Pac areas for my surface raiders groups.[:@]

Think of it as the real life scarcity of torpedoes. Count yourself lucky Japan can do this in the game.[;)]

Speaking of coversions here is a small conversion issue we can fix.

The game as it stands allows Japan to create AVs from cargo ships. That is fine but it allows us to create the wrong ship class.
The Akitsushima (which we can convert to) was a purpose built military ship with an expected build of 3 units only one of which was laid down.
The Sanyo/Kamikawa Maru was a conversion from AKs. There were plans to convert more during the war if they were needed but as they were not it was not done.

What we can do is move the Kamikawa Maru and Akitsushima classes to each others spots in the DB.
Or put the Yamato there...[:D]

Good idea. Same applies for USN. Conversion should be to Lassen class AE, not older Pyro. (AK Shooting Star became Lassen so it should not be in OOB) I originally changed AS conversion from Fulton to Otus, but I think Griffin/Pelias type (class addition needed here) is more appropriate. ADs should not be Dixie either...whichever class (Hamul) is based on the mercantile conversions should be the one used. AR conversion should be Delta class, not Medusa. AVs are fine converting to Tangier class.

Also, an entire class of AR, the Aristaeus Class ARB (Battle Damage Repair Ship) is missing from OOB. Twelve units which are not extraneous due to the very nature of the designed purpose, battle damage repair.

Sorry, wrong thread but this is in response to Mike's point.
