If you have not already done so, may I recommend to head to the AAR sub forum where you can read some games that have been played out and you can judge for yourself....

Yes I am curious too. HOI 1 was pretty detailed. HOI2 is suppsedly more involved.

I've been playing HoI2 and I have to say it is pretty fun. It is very detailed and involving and I will probably play it intensely for a few more months...and then I may never touch it again. Here's why: Although the AI is improved over HoI1, it is still full of holes. There are moments when I marvel at how well the AI handles one aspect of strategy and then puzzle over some really dumb moves. I can see playing all the major powers through one time, which will provide many hours of wargaming entertainment, and then be done with the game. You can't play PBEM because it's RTS. You can play online multiplayer, but I've not yet tried that...it seems intriguing but getting a handful of people to match up their schedule for the amount of time it would take to complete a decent game seems daunting. I recommend buying HoI2 if you like WWII grand strategy, but I fully expect GGWaW will be just as fun and will have more staying power because of the PBEM component. In fact, I wouldn't compare HoI2 with WaW considering that a typical WaW game takes 6-10 hours. HoI2 should be compared with WiF.
