Newbie with a couple of questions...

Got the game a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. I read the manual and the tips here on the forum which were very helpfull.

Main problem that I have is the use of AT, AA, MG and assault gun units. I have not figured out how to use these yet to full effect. They always seem to retereat and rout, not sure if they do any damage before they rout. If anyone has any strategies for their use please let me know.

Also one quick question about supplies to arty units. If an arty unit does not use up any of its ammo in the first day and then gets resupplied the next, will the ammo supply be double or stay the same?

Second question is easiest - units cannot hold more than their full supply of ammunition.

Using your line-support units is a bit of personal preference; in small scenarios they are useful as fire-support for attacks, give them a Defend order with Max Aggro and Rapid ROF near the target and they will shoot your assaulting units onto the objective. They can be vulnerable while setting up though.

In defence, you can either use these to thicken up your infantry and armour units, or use them as the key points of your defence and position your infantry to protect them.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to try it out.

Does firing with these units from a distance, have the same effect when they are advancing with the rest of the troops to take an objective?

AT and Light AA are not assault units by any definition. You might want to experiment with using them in a small scenario and seeing what happens if you vary their tasks or leave them 'attached'. Personally, I only use AT & AA units in assaults if the situation gets desperate[:)]
