Especially on CW and Indian I have a real problem.
I have 5 PBEMs going and in 4 of them by mid 42 I have emptied the British Pilot pool while my Indian and CW pilots sit there unused is very galling.
I end up doing on map training to keep wellington pilot quality high when I have lots of trained pilots sitting around.....hey it aint like the CW never provided pilots and aircrew for RAF sqns...

The French probably comes into play in 44 or 45. The Indians around late 42 or 43.
I play as the Japanese, so I am guessing on these arrival dates.

After escaping british naval bombardment in Mers El Kebir, July 40, BB Strasbourg regain south of France (Vichy controlled zone)
Then she had been scuttled in Toulon harbour in nov 42 to prevent her size by adavncing german troops, as main of the french fleet.
BB Richelieu is listed in the allied vessel with arrival date late 44, and she has several floatplanes aboard.
In 45, CVL Bearn was also sent in Pacific, but I don’t remember if she arrived before or after japanese capitulation.

I must be blind for I'm not seeing any Indian, French or "Commonwealth" squadrons. There are separate pilot pools for Aus, NZ, Cdn, and Brit squadrons. Are there any in Scn 15?

France lost about 90000 soldiers fighting the Germans in 1940. This was the time when the US Congress implemented a military embargo that denied them the planes and equipment they had ordered in the USA...

Poor Frenchies suffer from same 'bad press' like the Italians do. On the other hand, they sometimes behave like Charles de Gaulle won the war single-handedly with just 'a little help from the friends'. But well, the collapse of 1940 was a shock that can still be felt today, so no wonder the few bright spots later in the war have been held high. Each village in France has its 'Square General de Gaulle' or 'Rue General Leclerc'. 'Collaborateur' still is one of the worst insults, but of course everybody claims that grandfather has been a resistance fighter...

Hi, The French Airforce has quite a number of US built aircraft. Many they bought after Sept 1 1939. There was no embargo. There had been neutrality issues.
1.Cash and Carry.Immediately after war broke out in Europe, President Roosevelt asked Congress to ease the arms embargo so that arms could be sold to Britain and France. The Neutrality Act of 1939: (1) permitted belligerents to purchase materials of war on a cash and carry basis and (2) banned American merchant ships from travelling in war zones, as designated by the President. Cash and Carry actually aided Britain and France, because their financial resources and control of the seas enabled them to buy war materials in the United States and to carry such goods in their own ships. It marked a shift from isoloation to pro-Allied neutrality.
The French airforce had more planes at the end of the campaign then it had at the start.

How about Lend Lease ? I thought that send stuff over there to fight. I am pretty sure Congress ok that bill.
No denying that many brave French soldiers died defending their country against an evil dictator. But Hilter should not have been a surprise to Europe, certainly was not to the Brits.

But all those cargos full of war supplies and DDs escorting them that were sunk by the Germans were all 1941 and after ?
The French had a tough time of it, everyone will agree. But the Amiericans did pitch in a little and had large loss of live too.

Hi, USN DD and German U-boats began shooting at one another in Sept 1941.
After PH the U-boats had a field day sinking US ships.

The French bought aircraft in the US after Sept 1, 1939. But Congress declared a weapons embargo after the outbreak of the Winter War in Finland. The result was that 100 Curtiss P-39 fighters and 215 Glen-Martin bombers that were finished and ready for shipment were not delivered to France (but it remains true that they had more planes at the end of the campaign).
But that's not the point: Many people in this forum (mostly posters from the US) tend to make jokes about the military performance of the French in WW2. There can be no doubt that the French army had inept military leaders and that they were routed at Sedan. But they fought quite hard in the second stage of the Battle of France and suffered heavy casualties (when it should have been clear to them that the war in France was lost). Thus I cannot understand an attitude that belittles the French military performance.

Hi, I never make fun of French soldiers. I think their High Command (Gamlien) should take 100 percent of the credit for the loss.

When your country is overrun in 6 weeks there can be very little good to say about its military performance.
