I downloaded the updated database (its great) when the 1.21 patch (also great) came out and I've run into several recon designs that seem like they could use some changes. All suggestions, of course (and some better than others) [:)]

Duellist is first, changed the LA and RA to dullaroy (same AP value as was there for titanium, but less weight, .28t) and RL and LL to Millenia. This decreased the armor by 1 in each leg but freed up enough weight to increase LS to level 2 and improved heat by -.23/s. Could have added flare 1 instead of upgrading LS.

Guru, not sure if these changes are worth the heat (TB alone produces 2.33C/s). Lowered heat reg. to L2, changed armor to vicenium in LA, RA, and CT. Armor decreased by 2 AP in each arm, but increased in CT , CBT, LOT, RT and LT for a net gain of 7 AP and increased battle computer to level 3.

Marshall, not sure if this was worth the improved heat reg (it does seem like this design heats up very fast, only played with it a couple of times though). Dropped flares and changed RA and LA to vicenium (losing 3 AP on each), lowered RL and LL by 2mm (losing 1 AP on each). Increased heat reg. to 3 (-.14C/s improvement), increased BC to 4 and added 1 AP to CT.

Stinger, changed RA and LA to vicenium and lowered armor to 12 AP in each arm. Moved the AC4s to the shoulders, increased heat reg. to 2 (-.34C/s), upgraded the comp. to 4 and moved it to CBT. Also increased CBT armor by 1. Only downside I see to this is that you can't fire while prone.

Stingray, move the SL to the LT or LA. Otherwise you risk losing all of your energy weapons if you lose your RT.

IMO the Duellist, Stinger and Stingray suggestions are all solid. I look forward to hearing what the rest of you think.

There were already some updates to the updated database, most are mentioned here in this subforum. The Stinger is gone, for one [;)] , and the Stingray I think already has that change done.
I'll be posting the updated uptdated database soon, with a few more designs per weight class (36).

Stingray: moved SL to the LA, opposite from the PG

Good catch on the arm armor in the Duellist, and the life support upgrade. I didn't swap leg armor though, it doesn't really need the extra heat dissipation for regular activity, and leg armor is already thinner than what I'd like. The design runs quite cool, only overheating when using the jump ports, or facing FTs/NMs (but then that's what they're designed for). It's a nice player modification for Core missions though.

The Guru, hmmm. Kept as it was, trading heat dissipation for accuracy is more like a player's call IMO.

On the Duellist you are still .08t shy of being able to upgrade the LS after switching the arms to dullaroy. It seems like to the only other reasonable options are 1) 2mm from CBT and 1mm from LoT or 2) 1mm from each arm. Either way you still wind up with an overall loss of 2AP, but don't benefit from the heat improvement. However, you are quite right about the design running plenty cool [:)] The CS is one of the most (heat) efficient weapons in the game.

Guru - I don't think it was worth changing either. I just couldn't resist the lure of seeing what I could do with all that extra weight [8|]

Marshall - The changes I suggested didn't make much of a difference for me, but I noticed the AI seemed to be having a bit more trouble with it. It seemed like it was taking too much damage from GMHs and losing its arms too quickly once it actually made it into its range. Also, I think I was missing some of the design intent when I lowered the arm APs; it is a good titan for dfa then pound.

Stingray - doh, sorry I missed that.

Duellist, yep, forgot to mention that I went with 1). Those locations however have more armor than the legs, and are hit less often. It is worth the LS upgrade in a pure CC design IMO.
