In the aircraft database, there is a field (when extracted using Mickelm's tool) listed as "_sym". What does it represent ? This is the field right after "Pool"

Unknown. It was in the layout given by Mike Wood.
IIRC, the same thing (_sym) was used in Location record to show the Parachute/cavalry symbol on the unit icon.

Michaelm,
Sorry for screwing up your name (I'm an engineer and can't spell [;)])
Thanks for the reply. Odd about the "_sym" field as it isn't empty of data and has some fairly substantial values. What's the Combined scenario guys doing with this. Got to know what it is to use it ?

Just to add an example. When reviewing the aircraft database for the A6M2 Zero for
Sc 15, there are 51 listed in the pool. The next database record "_sym" has a value of 420.
Now when using the database editor provided with the game, I can find no record field that has a value of 420.
It seems to me for anyone modding a scenario that includes changes to the aircraft, what happens to your "_sym" values and what do these mean/represent ?

I exported ALL the fields from the database including the ones I could not actually identify. The basis of the fields being the layout Michael Wood posted last year.
Any field not found in the Editor, I preceeded with _ (IIRC) in case it was found to have some meaning - as in the case of the parachute/cavalry symbol in Location record.
Most likely the values are rubbish left over from other things.
Sorry can't be any more help.
Michael
