my first game

Hey all.
Just finished the 76 turn campaign as the allies. Was pretty much a stalemate until about the 58th turn when I broke through in the west with all the american armour i could muster. Game ended with the germans reastablishing a line just across the orne with some newly arrived inf. divisions, everything west of that being mine. Conclusion: i was too cautious early on, never reached inland as villers bocage until late on. Carentan and especially St. Lo took far too long.
What are your experiences of the long campaign as either side?
