Noob waypoint question

Hi,

I wanted to add a waypoint to the movement of a unit during a turn. The unit began with two waypoints, but only made it to the first one on one turn. During the next turn, I decided I wanted to move it some more but cannot work out how to do it without recreating the existing waypoint. Is this even possible? I have looked at the manual, but as it isn't mentioned I'm assuming not.

Thanks,
Jim

You have to issue new order, with new waypoints (and wait again for comand delay). That is the price you pay for changing your mind between two turns.

In this game, it pays to plan (moderately) in advance [:D]

Alternatively, if you just want to move it furtehr, and it hasn't got to the last waypoint, you could click and drag your waypoint to a new location...I don't think there's a delay hit for this

Thanks for the replies...

Oleg, I feared it would be the case. I only changed my mind because of developments during the previous turn, so I couldn't have anticipated it.

JudgeDredd, That would have been an option if it weren't for the fact that I wanted to move the unit 90 degrees south after the next waypoint [:D]

It brings up an interesting point though. Do you risk using too much radio chatter by amending your orders by setting several waypoints in advance, then having to change your plans. Or, do you set only enough waypoints for the distance the unit can move during the next turn. Hmmm, I'll have to think on that one.

Regards,
Jim

War is hell... [:D]

In my experience in this game it pays to think long term. Use SOP, and other tools to make your units act you want them to, and then give them waypoints as near as possible to their "final" destination. Try to plan ahead and change your mind as little as possible.

I love games that simulate this aspect of combat command, as opposed to games that let you fumble with your orders every turn, with no consequences.

But then again, I play almost exclusively as NATO lately, so waypoints are waayyy less important for me than for the WP players [:D]
