Scenario design

I am having difficulties with the design briefing htm file.

There seems to be some limits on the html that the briefing file will accept. The stock scenarios briefing files display a background image and the program appears to support CSS but I cant get mine to accept a background image an external CSS file..(I have now abandoned external style sheets and am now using internal style sheets)

I am using Coffecup to design my briefing files and they look fine when previewed in coffeecup and when the "stand alone" file is opened in a browser..but once compiled into a scenario a lot seems to get lost.

I think that allowing the customisation of briefing files using html is a brilliant idea, it allows scenario designers to demonstrate both their artistic and militaristic flair [:D]

But what are the limitations of the Html that the program will accept?

It should support external images, but your image files need to be within the directory or a subdirectory of the main directory that your index file exists in...

Try that...

Thanks,
The files are where they are supposed to be...I read the instructions.

My question is, are there limitations for the html that the program supports, if so...what are they?

(it doesnt seem to support external cascading style sheets, for example)

OK

I will bring your question to Robert's attention. He is under a lot of work right now, so it might be a bit before he can respond.

From Robert in the beta forum...

The html component comes from www.pbear.com and this is the description:

"Version 9 of these components supports most of the HTML 3.2 specifications with many additional popular HTML 4 enhancements. Many Cascading Style Sheet properties are also supported.

* Cascading Stylesheets
* Frames
* Bitmap, GIF, PNG, and JPEG Images
o Animated GIFs
o Transparent images
o Image caching
o Left and right floating images
o Image sizing attributes
o Client side image maps
* Large HTML files
* HTML Tables
* HTML Forms
* Font sizes, styles, and colors with HTML tags or default settings
* Background colors and images
* Formatted printing of the HTML document
* Print preview
* Text search
* Copy to clipboard
* Subscripts and superscripts"

Yup, "many" CSS elements but not all of them. All I can suggest right now is play around with it and report back on what you find. I'm not an HTML wiz myself but I think this is an important feature of the game and want to see it used to it's maximum potential. In particular I would like to know which exact features you require so that I can raz the author of the component a little.[:D]

In the alternative, I could embed all of Internet Explorer into the game, but the just builds in another dependency that a lot of people might not actually care for!

You are the first to bump up against any limits though so I would appreciate hearing from you as you learn more about it.

Cheers, Rob.
