hi wilhelm, Are you sure their was sound in the original? To tell you the truth, I don't remember sound on the original but that was a long time ago, I just started to play this game again and it always gives a good showing. I look forward to Grigsby's ww2 game and strategic command 2 by Battlefront.com

i don't know for sure, but wasn't this game done when 95% of confusers didn't have soundcards or speakers? if there was sound, i would think it might have come out of a PC speaker! i would be surprised at any sound mostly because there is no setup for sound before you play the first time, like all old dos games had. i'm a wacko when it comes to game sounds - i turn them all off and crank the tunes or the TV instead, even when i'm playing medal of honour online! (the only other game i play other than WiR)

all things involving sound in my apartment goes through my confuser - TV included. i have all my music on my HDD and i have a 5 speaker system connected to my soundcard. the 4 sattilites plug into the bass booster with regular AV plugs, so i have the the 2 front sattilite plugs connected to an amp which has 3 foot speakers instead. let me tells ya, listening to music (and watching movies) on this thing is a pleasure! but if you have 2 or 3 different things coming through the same volume knob one is bound to be louder than the other so i don't bother screwing with it and leave the games with sound off or very low. small price to pay for perfect sound!

i'v always wanted to try BF1942, since it probrably is much more fun than MOH - especially piloting tanks and aircraft! a friend of mine is coming into town this weekend and bringing call of duty - i want his S/N to try that online. i'm hoping it's more mission oriented since i don't care so much aboots just killing people - i like completing missions or die trying!

BTW, my new avatar is of a StuG IIIf taken in Stalingrad in late 1942, for those interested...

There's no in-game sound and there never was.
In SSI's version there was sound but only on the opening screen.
I always here radio or CD while playing WIR

your right dennis, i remember the opening screen now as the only portion of the program with sound. When this game first came out I played it non stop,

Flanker, Battlefield 42 is a great game online and the mods created are quite numerous, some good mods to try are:
Battlegroup 42 www.battlegroup42.com
Forgotten Hope - very intensive on comp system

they even have a mod called battlefield 1918

I played call of duty single mission and not that difficult i am waiting for the Far Cry mod that takes place in WW2
