Tried loading a pbem file sent to me from a friend and received message:

"Error reading Units object from Save file"

Game is locked up now forcing a 3-finger salute. Not sure if he's patched to 1.01, but I am. I think I followed the correct pbem procedure.

Bump - anyone?

If you have the file still can you post it here? I can run it through the debugger and find out just what really happened in a few moments. I put that error message in maybe 3 years ago and you are the first case reported to have seen it. That's a distinction of some sort!

Wow, uh sheesh, I'm honored[:D]

I loaded in the posted file three times and did not experience any problems. There are a few logical possibilities here:

1. the crash was a random event caused by some transitory glitch that we will never know about. Unlikely but theoretically possible, wierd things do happen sometimes.

2. something has since changed in the game that fixes the problem already. I have added a few new data fields to the save game files in 1.02 but nothing that should have impacted anything already there. This seems unlikely too.

3. Maybe it was a different file that was causing the problem? Does this file cause the problem described every time, only sometimes, just the once? What OS are you using? Do you have a file called "fpg_report.txt" in the root game directory that you can post here? It might give some clues if it exists.

Win2k, SP4. Simply cannot load that file. I get the error and the game is frozen. All Single player scenarios seem to work. Had the same error with another pbem file sent to me (attached).

I do not have the fpg_report.txt file in my root dir.
