I will be buying War in the Pacific in order to buy this game! I nearly fell off the chair with excitement when I bumbled over these posts!
And so I ask the question - any kind of estimated shipping date for the beauty?
Thanks!!!

For a release date, I know its not much help, but probably around the time of the 1.5 patch. This is necessary, 1) to get all of WitP's new bugfixes into WPO, and 2) because I am including a large variety of different aircraft types, mainly to play on the user selectable aircraft types.
As to price, it won't be terribly expensive, probably around the price of normal expansion packs for game (Call of Duty: United Offensive, Medal of Honor: Breakthrough, etc) when they first come out.
Kipper, I'm glad to hear it! WPO plays differently from War in the Pacific, and I find it a nice change of pace. I'm sure you guys won't be dissapointed.

You need to elaborate on this one a bit. In what specific ways do you see this ?

Tankerace, it warms my old heart to see such dedication to a wargame project, especially these days when gaming industry is being concentrated in the hands of a few greedy megacorporations that care only about profits and don't give a damn about true quality games.
Damn, I'm most definitely going to buy this one as soon as it comes out!
A question: I presume the pace of events in WPO will be slower than in WitP (lousy aircraft, slower ships, coaling etc.). Is WPO best played with 1 day turns, or does it work better with longer ones, maybe even 3-4 days?

While I think 1 day turns will still be fine, multiple day turns will actually be better suited for WPO, as you won't have to worry about the KB suddenly popping up and blowing your fleet to ashes. Basically, as my tests have shown, naval battles generally occur when you expect them, or when you don't expect them and can't do anything about them.
Also thank you for your comments. Its comments like that that make doing this project all the worthwhile.
