I used to watch it a lot on PBS when I was younger and my absolute favorite documentary is "World at War". GI Diary came a close second, with War Chronicles following.
(Was watching it tonight)

lol.. you know reading that I had to think back about when I was younger and watching war documantaries thinking: why didn“t the $#&$#& Americans and British help us out, what the %$#%$#& did they expect us to do?!! (ah yes, the things ya worry about when ya are younger [:)]
Now in the game I can make them... lol (and much use it is.. not!) so atleast we end up on the seafloor together [:D] )

There was a program that featured a soldier on each side, Japan and USA. Not sure of what the name of it was.

Being a Navy Fanboy, I always liked Victory at Sea. World at War was good one too though.

Victory at Sea rocked. I want to get a copy of that series.
Even though it wasn't military, Connections was a great series on TLC. Anyone ever see it, or know if reruns are available?
Don't ask me why I've been thinking about that program - I was just having a talk with my wife about it (she's a teacher).

Connections was cool. Don't know about reruns; you can probably buy it or parts of it from A&E. All the nerd channels have kind of gone to hell since A&E took them over (even A&E lol). Seems like all they ever do now is talk about UFO conspiracies.[:'(]

Battlefield if it's the one i'm thinking of. I like thta too. Not always 100% accurate but nice use of maps and footage.
World at War was excellent for it's time. Also had a fair few interviews with then still alive generals/commanders etc

Tim Piggot-Smith narrated The series 'battlefield'. His voice alone made it an excellent program. Best documentory I have ever seen on WW II. Sad part is I never had the chance to record it when it aired on PBS.[:(]
