Megacampaign crash problem

OK, this is most irritating.

I just finished the first megacampaign battle, (with a decisive win, I might add with no small amount of pride) and now the game crashes when I try to go to the next battle!

I'm playing the Mega-Campaign with SPWAW v6.1 on a 300 MHz PII with 128 MB of memory and about 300 MB left on the hard drive. No performance problem with SPWAW so far.

What happened was this: the first battle finished, I got a presentation on the next one, pressed "continue" and got to choose options. I chose "Brandenburgers to the rescue" and pressed "continue", everything normal so far. Then the game crashes. I restart the game, load my save file and get to the battle presentation screen (the one right after the first battle), I press continue... and the game crashes. I reboot, do it all over again... and the game crashes.

What went wrong? Do I have to fight battle 1 all over again? And will the game crash again if I do?

After waiting so long for this game, this isn't exactly what I had been hoping for...

Someone suggested this on another thread about the same sort of problem: Make sure you're got the latest DirectX version.

Check out the "Need Help Please.." thread. It sounds like a few of us are having the same problem. BTW, I installed DirectX 8 and it still happens. I created a help desk account and opened a help desk ticket, hopefully there's a fix for this..

You can download DirectX 8 for free from the Microsoft site. Navigate to "Downloads" doa search for "DirectX" and eventually you'll find it.

Actually, I believe the Help Desk is for orders. Try the Tech Support Forum, and include all system details.

The help desk is primarily for orders, but we address other things as well. PRoblems like this where a small group seem to have teh same problem and nopbody else does, are best solved by the at group banding together on teh Tech support forum and recounting with each other exactly what you are doing and where teh bug seems to be hitting.

It could be OS related (we know C2 on causes a crash in NT/2k, but not 9X/ME... could be something like that...but could be hardware specific(video or sound card)

Start a thread on teh Tech support forum and we will work with you to find the problem
