Editor?
Will the existing Witp editor work with Plan Orange?

No. However, War Plan Orange will have its own editor. It is, for all intents and purposes, the same in operation as the regular War in the Pacific editor.

Wow - an add on with it's own editor, I think that's a first! I like it[;)]

Hrm, let me get this sorted out with Mike, I think I may have misunderstood something (which is quite possible).

Ok, I'm emailing Mike about this (what I get for working on this and the WitP CHS project). I guess assume that there is no editor, but michaelm's WitP load should still probably work with it.

just wondering why the WITP editor would not work? the game itself is pretty much the same just the database has changed hasn't it?

That was pretty much My opinion an understanding. The only difference is War in the Pacific would lack the AI, date changes, and art to play War Plan Orange scenarios.
At least as I undestood it, it would be the WitP editor, just in the new WPO directory.
I'll talk to Mike, and get a definate firm answer.

Humm, so to understand you, your Plan Orange will have its own AI, and other stuff, and be nearly its own game, installing Plan orange through wouldn't mess up the regular game its more like
say an expansion of the game in the way Civ conquest is an expansion of Civ III, can't use Conquest stuff in a Civ III setup
but can use Civ III stuff in an Civ Conquest setup..
(Conquest is installed in a folder under Civ III which is what you seem to be saying for Plan orange vis a vis regular Witp)

Correct. While you need WitP to play WPO, WPO will not affect War in the Pacific, nor will WitP affect WPO. Civ 3 and Conquests is a good analysis. WPO will have new AI, its own art, scenarios, etc, all in a new directory in the WitP main folder.

How does the AI differ from WitP's?

Its the same basic AI, but tweaked to be more battleship oriented. It isn't totally new (the main AI was actually good enough), but needed some tweaks to realise that the carrier and airplane are now no longer the dominate weapon. Plus, it needed to become more battleship oriented, and to fix some oopsies like a 172 ship bombardment task force [;)]

How did you do this, using the scenario editor?

Thanks for the answer Mike. I was wondering if anyone has looked at changing the AI via the scenario editor. It seems not yet.

Ok, I'm still no sure we got straight answer.
1. So the existing Witp will work with Witp (yes/no)?
2. Is there any new database fields(hidden) we won't edit with Plan Orange scenarios?

1. At this point in time, yes.
2. No.
However, I must stress that custom scenarios made for WPO cannot be played in regular War in the Pacific, they must be run in WPO to work correctly.
