US/Soviet neutrality question

I know the US and USSR automatically enter the war in '43 if not attacked. Is there anything that will cause them to enter the war before '43...for example if Japan is real aggressive in the Western Pacific? Or if Germany leaves an exposed eastern border?

Yes, if China is at war with the SU and holds any of the non-coastal Chinese provinces, the US will declare war.
If Germany does not meet the minimum garrison requirements for the eastern border, the SU will unfreeze.

Yes, if China is at war with the SU and holds any of the non-coastal Chinese provinces, the US will declare war.
He means if JAPAN is at war with the SU....

This could explain a lot of my difficulties with the Pacific war.
