I've just ordered the game from Matrix( game hasn't been delivered yet), but I remember asking Milo a while back if he planned to make cockpits for the fighters, he said it would take too long, but they could be created via mods (or words to that effect).

So, has anyone made any, or is it still a case of the Freespace HUD only style view?

Let's just say that cockpits and bridges are on the "possible to do" list, for a later version of SS.

There are some ships with cockpit. You need find and download them though. You can start from Starshatter Central and Starshatter Dev. v2.

I was hoping for the stock ships to have add-on cockpits.

Will these ships you mention, replace the ones in the campaign? If so then I'll go get them...as soon as I know which ones to get.
