Priest self propelled 105 How.
And Major Monty MacPissy, simultaniously showing the troops where the enemy is and flipping them the bird with the other hand.

I'll add it's most likely near El Alamein - they were used extensively in North Africa campaign, but not so much in Europe.

No they were both designated the M7. The Priest was used by the Brits (the shot above sure looks like brits to me) until replaced by the Sexton in '43(?).

I think that is a Crusader in the background on the right. Probably North Africa. The SPA could also be South African or even Australian? The ID markings on the M7 are 3 vertical stripes Dark-light-dark. That looks like a national marking to me.

Sexton was not identical. It had a 25-lbr instead of a 105, and there were some other minor differences in appearance besides.

I believe that the unit making is under the MG, don't have my books but I think it's British.

look on the hull in the center for what appears to be nationality. That looks similar to a French flag to me. There were French forces in the desert and they used some American and some British equipment hence the statement.

Yes there was a Free French Brigade but they marked their vehicals (IIRC) with a Cross of Loraine (sorry if the spelling is wrong). The marking under the MG is a British divisional or corp marking.
Disclaimer: But I can always be wrong.

There was both Free French with the cross of Lorraine and "other" French who fought in Algeria later in the desert campaign. The French were not the only ones who used a tricolor pattern to their flag however so who knows but Brady at this point.
