CARRE D AS

German advance vs French Delay
Flavion, Belgium, May 15, 1940
Turns:12
Scenario Size: Small
Estimated Play Time: 40 Minutes
Design: Sylvain "Free French" Ferreira

Game Notes: This scenario is more challenging if played from the French side. It is a good two player game.

Background:

At Dinant, the XV ArmeeKorps commanded by Hoth has crossed the Meuse river and starts its breakthrough. The French 9th Army is completely disorganized and nothing seems able to stop the panzers' advance.

General Bruneau commanding the 1st DCR receives the order to attack in the sector of Philippeville-Dinant where the 7th Panzerdivision of Rommel is progressing in the opposite direction.

The French division though equipped with dreadful B-1bis tanks, lacks everything : Flak, supply, recce units and modern transmissions.

Since the 14th, the division is deployed around Flavion and face without knowing Rommel's Panzers. On the morning of the 15th, the French are ready to attack but they quickly realiz that the Germans have the same idea. The first clash of armor soon starts with incertitude.

One of my soldiers was killed in this delaying mission. I felt I could have done better.

Good job! I've only had six perfect battles with no losses at all, out of eighteen in my long campaign. How did you get the AI to fight to the last man? They usually wuss out after their morale shatters.

The AI had captured one victory hex and seemed to rally around its defense. The armor in the town ran down the fleeing infantry and crewmen.
