Optimal Supply Production

It seems that there are many crises that can occur in this game. The worst so far is having operations grind to a halt due to lack of supply. I have managed to do this even with advanced supply turned off.

Is there an optimal x-supply per turn for each of the powers? How can you tell at a glance what your situation is?

Good, engrossing game so far - exceeding expectations and growing on me.

To determine your situation at a glance, use the military forces screen.

supply management is an art, not a science. IMO, the game outcome is not determined by how many Miliary Forces you have on the map but by where and how many supplies you have.

(of course this does not apply in Simple Supply Mode games)

As a general rule of thumb, if you have regions which cannot produce many of your military units, such as France, Rumania, ect., devote these regions manufacturing to supply and research.... also, I cycle through each region and purchase supply and research points first before spending on units....all to often I too was caught with my supply pants down!

Here is another supply tip...all too often a player will simply redeploy units around their occupied regions, and fail to use Strategic movement...while the strat move option will automatically become active when you try to move a unit past its' movement ability, it does not do this when you only move one region (or 2 or 3 depending on the units' movement ability))...so for example, if you want to move an infantry unit from eastern to western Germany, if you simply move it, it will cost you 1 supply point, but if you click on the Strategic movement icon which appears on the right side of the screen, before you move, then this one region move will cost you nothing....you can eat up alot of supply points if you fail to use the strategic movement option for one region moves.........

Hold the ctrl key down during movement to togggle to strat move mode without mousing to death ;)

JUst be careful - I've doen this and then discovered I used critical rail or transport "bandwidth" and could not get supplies here I not them.

Waste supply moving o be able to move other supplies, or save supply and not have it where you need it, but have troops in defense positons...This game can be PURE EVIL at times...Trying to drive after teh Germans Germans and keep them from creating teh Festung West Germany, you need to play a game not unlike a sliding number puzzle to get teh rail you nedd and move the units you need and move teh supply you need.

You will come to HATE Eastern Poland - teh botleneck of all bottlenecks to auto supply.

Tip: ITs worth the air powere to drive the KM out of the Baltic and build a half dozen transports to create a "fast lane" to try to outflank the retreating germans...Even if you fail, you can double your "bandwidth" headed west...
