Scenario Editor?

1. Will the AI scripts for the stock scenarios ever be released?

2. Why can't we edit them with the existing WITP editor?

Because then you would have devious players editing their PBEM games.[;)]

Huh!, this makes no sense, editing a scenario file or it's AI script has nothing to do with save game files.

Excellent questions pad152, hope we get an official answer. When I first fired up the editors, I went straight to the scenario editor rather than the database editor hoping to have fun tweaking the AI. Probably like you, I was disappointed to find it empty without the data for the stock scenarios.

For those that aren't able to play PBEM, scenarios with tweaked AI may be worthwhile additions. I'd be interested to have a go at one or two, but am currently feel totally overwhelmed when faced with a completely empty scenario. At least the database modders get the stock scenarios as starting points. [;)]

I'm also a bit surprised that all scenario modders so far, WPO included, don't appear to use the scenario editor at all. Makes me wonder if making scenario files would be any use at all, maybe all the major decisions for the AI are hard-coded anyway? I'd love to hear from anyone that has spent some time playing with the scenario editor.

I, also, can see the relevance to PBEM games. Of course anyone looking at the AI's strategic goals in a game vs the AI is only cheating themselves as well as being an extremely bad player if they need that help. [:D]

But you can change forces and deployments and replacements and the list goes on....

To get access there would probably need to be an AI only scenario. Then it wouldn't matter if data got tweaked.

The AI scrpt is there for some of the stock scenarios like #6.

Tankerace told me that AI is hard coded for the Main Campaign in Plan Orange/ I'll bet it's the same for the large Witp campaign scenarios.

Now I wonder, if I made of copy of scenarion 15 and then created an AI module for it, would it work inconjuction with the hardcoded AI? I'll have to give this a try!

I would be very interested in your results!

Well no luck, I tried everything I could think of including creating a new HQ area I-Force, giving it forces, objectives and it's own AI module, but the scenario AI is all or nothing. The AI modules in the Scenario Editor are too limited to handle a campaign size scenario.

Maybe once the patch and Plan Orange is released we can get Mike Wood to respond to some questions about the AI.
