Manual distribution

In the ongoing effort to convince some people that this is not Gary Grigsby's Axis & Allies, I ahve been talking a bit about the game that I learned from the manual. I bought the game a few days agao via DD, but have ahd little time to play.

That made me wonder - would it be ok to send someone who has not yet purchased the game a copy of the PDF manual?

Which then made me think: Hey, why don't they jsut let people download the manual from the website? I think that would be an *excellent* way of letting people know what the game is about, how it plays, etc., etc.

Typically game companies do not do that because having a manual is seen as one of the advantages of not pirating a copy - but with DD and PDF amnuals, anyone pirating the game will have a manual in the same format anyway. So that doesn't seem to be an issue.

I don't see any downside to this, and plenty of upside. Why not let people downalod the manuals for all the games that you ahve PDF manuals for? Win-win situation...

I suspect I could get at least three people to buy the game if I could send them a copy of the manual.

Can't you just send them a copy of your manual?

Why not invite them over for a hot seat game instead?

I *can*, I don't know if it is ok, however. I suspect that the manual is licensed.

Because none of them live anywhere near me.

If I can get someone over to play a wargame, it is going to be Europe Engulfed or ASL[:D]

Any chance I can get an "official" answer on whether or not it is ok to send someone just the PDF manual?

My personal view is, if you prined out the manual and let your frined borrow it to check it out that would be fine, so I don't see an issue with emailing it so somebody. Posting it on a website or otherwise Mass distributing it" we ask you not to do.
