Run5 has just released the second battle in the Master of Battle Series: Patton - 1945 -
The battle features a fictional scenario in which the Allies have a falling out and Patton's Third Army (augmented by a Bundeswehr Panzer Armee) takes on Zhukov's First Belorussian Front (made up of a Tank Army, a Guards Army, and a Shock Army).
42 turns of the most intense combat (and dire situations!) in the DBWWII series yet!
Requires the full Battles in Normandy game to play. Get your free copy of this battle here:

Why is there no real AI? It seems a lot of the free battles coming out are PBEM only which isn't good for me. Is it to hard to code the AI or what? Just thought I would ask.

It takes a considerable amount of effort to get it right. Don't ever play the AI meself... Nothing to stop any of the players from writing a good AI operation. I put all the elements into my scenarios to allow this.

Played the scenario against the AI from each side for chuckles. As Russian, the AI was a persistent, but inept attacker and it was uninteresting after about a dozen turns.
It's more interesting when you play the Russians against the AI because
--Americans are hard to kill with lots of supplies and replacements
--the terrain is generally unfavorable for the attacker
--American air superiority gradually becomes total, hindering your supplies
--having three Airborne divisions drop into your rear areas leads to some major "fetching and getting" for several turns
--the reconstituted Germans are aggressive once they get up to strength and will come after your spearheads, drawing blood if you're overextended
It kept my interest and I played full 42 turns, wiping the Americans off the map and bludgeoning the Germans back into the southwest corner...........but then no one ever accused me of being a strategist or a tactician. [:)]
