Well here I am as the Japs in a game that is certainly going to be difficult. Allies hold Port Morsby and Gili Gili and will certainly take Lunga in short order. The strategic question for the IJN is: Can the allies be stopped at Lunga? One answer may be for the IJN to commence building up the New Georgia area creating airbases to interdict naval movement into the area and to keep any Lunga airbase in constant disrepair. Direct land intervention is near impossible at this point, but IJN will keep its options open hoping for a crease.
It appears that the IJN will have to keep its naval losses to a minimum while creating tactical sucesses where the allies don't expect. The only way for the IJN to prevail may be to keep the allies off-balance and thus their eye-off-the-ball.
