If you head on over to Run5 (
http://www.ssg.com.au) you can sign-up for a KP tournament: Gallipoli, or a BiN Tournament: MacArthur Master of Battle.
I mention this because I'm in tournies in both games, and in the Steve Ford's Short Campaign tourny in KP, I keep trying to use hotkeys from BiN, and I keep looking for info in places where it is in BiN and I keep wishing it had been ported to BiN!
So BiN is the way to go if you really like KP.
To clarify something Joe mentioned, in BiN there are Police units which STOP the partisan effects if they're close enough--partisans are placed just like in KP.
In BiN you may be able to place minefields or strongpoints during the game.
Some units may 'evolve' to get better as the game goes on.
Each unit has it's own entrenching value--it could be more or less than the 50% in KP.
'Spotting' of the enemy is critical since during the replay you lose sight of units outside of the spotting distance. Recon units have a greater spotting range and so are needed to move forward see the enemy to plan your attacks.
Supply has been redone--it still works basically the same as in KP, but fixes a bit of an unintended situation that crops up in KP. Plus, supply trucks can have a number of emergency crates that let them burst when they are completely cut-off.
Carpet bombing, naval invasion, actual railroads with a rail move mode (like truck transport mode) and the list goes on and on...
