Average WitP Player?

One of my opponents mentioned he had 12 WitP games going( reminds me of my SPWAW days), but I only have 4 going and it is all I can handle in my free time. Am I going too slow? Also, I consider myself a newbie until I finish one complete game on both sides - but this is my own criteria. when does one stop becoming a newbie in this game and move on to being a veteran player? I don't think Win/Loss has anything to do with it other than making you a Good player vs a bad one.

I play one game, 2-4 turns a day and write what I hope is a pretty high quality AAR. Its all I can handle and still find the game fun.

I hope to start a multi player after 1.5 comes out in part because its slower paced.

I'm playing one fast game (against Tom) and two slower games (one turn day average). I should have one more game going, but it's one turn week average, so I don't think it should be mentioned.

I play one or two games, and it's all I can handle. In the small-map "Guadalcanal" scenario I can do my turns in 30 minutes. But in a full-map scenario, it takes me two hours to do a turn in the early going as Japan, and in the later war as the USA.

I'm not sure in what area I could speed up my play. Loading up all those TFs just takes me a while: I check and re-check my numbers before I put any troops aboard. I check most air orders every day; I'm looking at Fatigue, Morale, etc. I give escorts to just about every TF. How do you folks do 3-4 turns a day? Am I just being too fussy?

I can do 4 turns a day (one per each game) b ut it takes me an hour per turn. I sleep 8 hrs, work 10 hrs and the rest i devote to my wife and dog ( in that order).

Fix your priorities, the dog comes before the wife! [:D]

Between baby-boy and wife I'm lucky to do 3 turns a week, if playing at all. And I still have an old PacWar PBEM creeping along - sorry Strawbuk, haven't found the time in the last two weeks to sent you a turn...

I run my turns without combat animations they crash my machine. That saves a lot of time though I lose important information.

I keep everything in my head, no notes at all. That is one of the reasons I like to run one game, otherwise I get confused about which game is running which operation.

I manage battle areas closely, but sometimes not closely enough I just lost 5 cruisers proving that...[:@]

Sometime I can do a turn in 20 minutes other times it takes an hour. I always move the map in the same order. I have organizational concepts that I use to keep up with what is going on and to make movement easier.

I see two play styles when people write. One organizes large efforts, uses large convoys and trys to keep track of the things they make important. In this play style you form an invasion convoy analize its contents and plan its route.

I organize lots of small efforts. There are a number of places on the map where you can find more than 10 allied TFs moving in various places. When I want to prepare an invasion I start routing peices of this swarm to a staging area. When enough of the peices get into place I send them into action. I am not keeping track of a very important convoy, I am deciding on a center of effort and then putting strength there until I think I can win.

Either of these work, I am not saying one is better than the other, but that is how I get 3 or 4 turns a day done.

I've got three South Pacific scenarios going. Don't have any long campaign games going. Doubt I ever will. Just have too many other things to do. I would really like to see some more shorter scenarios.

How bout an early war Philippines with a heavier Allied commitment to prewar build up and defense?

I am playing four games (one with two allies). I aim to play at least a turn a day for each one, sometimes more. But I tend to spend over half an hour per turn so it's tough to do more than four turns a day.

I also have a game of UV still going but thats crawling along at about a turn a week....

I have 5 games going (not 12, Drex). 4 allies, 1 Japanese. I try to do 3 turns in the morning and 4 each night, rotating so everyone gets about the same amount of play. I try to take my time and really look at everything every 3 or 4 turns and I can send most turns back in about an hour. Invasion turns take several hours, once everything is moving or dug in then maybe a half hour. I am still a rookie, but starting to get more confident, except in the use of Japanese air. There I really suck. In my Feb 1943 game I'm down to 40 exp level pilots even after 6 months at the Mogami Air Acadamy.
I have no other hobbies, a very tolerant family, and a secretary who does most of my work for me. I love the game despite its faults.

I have 2 WitP games and a UV game going. I try to get all three a turn back everyday. On a good day, I get multiple turns to an opponent or two. I find it a comfortable pace that keeps my real life from getting bent out of shape at me.

Currently 2 active WiTP games, with 2 more to start once v1.5 comes out. Might be using Andrew's Map Mod on one or both of the new ones. One game UV still going. I usually manage one turn per game per night, with more if they are returned early enough. Depending what's going on during the weekend, I usually manage a couple of turns through out the day, unless I'm playing golf. [:D]
