I just wonder what the criteria for have a port in this game is? If Malta is signiicant enough to have one, I'd think Iceland would qualify.

Historically, Malta had (or could have had) a lot of significance on the war, hence its inclusion. I dont believe Iceland had any real bearing and no actions took place there or were even planned from what I can recall.

I guess I've played too much Harpoon type modern naval games where Iceland is a key location. I started looking to use it as such in this game to serve as a base where I could fight German U-boats.
That said, in this game the concept seems to be that the players can't do any major infrastructure type work that really changes the world. You can't build new rail lines. And you can't build a new port.
Since historically, the Allies didn't use Iceland as a base, then the game pretty much keeps it that way.
No biggy ... just got work out of Scapa flow and try to increase the range and ASW of my planes.

If you load up some supply there, you can base long range bombers to help cull the U-Boat threat. I tend to put bombers there & in Greenland....works wonders.

Historically, I know some bombers on ASW duty were based in Greenland. I believe some may have been in Iceland as well.

this might be of interest - from what i can see from other sources i don't think there was ever a large anti-submarine presence on the island (a squadron of PBY's).
