So I'm nearing the end of my first long game. Started Spring of '40, playing the Germans. No time limit. I'm a few islands away from conquering the world.

Now the game crashes during the Japanese computer's turn, every single time. Extremely frustrating. Patched the game, thinking perhaps that would help the problem. No change.

I've had the game crash many times since buying it a few days ago, but never had a game become unplayable because of it. Any ideas? Looks like this one might become a return-to-the-store.

I was having some crashing problems that turned out to be related to other multi-media software that was running in the background during the game. I found out when I got the 'Do you want to send the error report' message and for once I clicked 'Yes'. Then I was taken to a Microsoft web page where it explained what the guilty software was and how to fix it. And it wasn't from Matrix. I uninstalled that software and have not had a crash since.

Have you tried that? Have you sent the error report? If it is in Matrix's software, then I believe they will get a core dump or something that might help them find the problem. OTOH, it might help you identify another piece of software that is screwing up your machine.

Just a thought...
