Which country to start with?

Germany is a good one?
I am a newbie and I've just finished the tutorials.
Which game settings do you suggest to begin with?

IMO, Russia is the best first country. There is a lot for the Germans to do and a lot of ways to mess up. With Russia, you can pretty much ignore both naval and air to some extent and just build a strong army and get ready for a big battle!
Some tips:
1) Upgrade both attack and evasion for armor and get up to 8-10 units.
2) Defend Lenningrad, the Caucuses and Moscow even if you have to give up almost everything in between.
3) Store up for the first winter after the war starts and be ready to hammer the Germans with everything you have.
