A TRIBUTE to Mr. David Heath - SALUTE!

I think that it is time for a little recognition ceremony. I was working with SPWAW today, continuing the fun task of completing this new series that we'll soon be presenting here on Korea.

As I went through the game, the music playing, I noticed that the music, along with everything else in this magnificent development of SP, is great.

Not only have I worked with seven gaming companies on various games out there, but I've also worked extensively on all versions of Steel Panthers, being a member of every team of SP, SP2, SP3, the early stages of SPWW2 and this final magnficent presentation of the game known as "Steel Panthers, World at War."

Often behind the scenes, and devoting literally thousands of man hours was Mr. David Heath. It took me some time and convincing to David to get him really into the earlier versions of SP that came from the old SSI Gaming Company.

Once he was, however, David gave it all he had. And he has a lot. He organized, recruited, and coordinated the making of this version. He found graphics artists, musicians, programmers and folks like me, pulled us together in a family-like team and we went to work. That was NOT EASY. There were personality conflicts, differences of opinion, and many times when he must have felt like giving up.

But David NEVER gives up!

Through 8 complete versions and a number of minor segments, we've gone from SPWAW to SPWAW 8.3. Its been a long hard road, some six years in the making and dozens of folks have come and gone. David is still here.

He supported the game, worked day and night to secure the code, have it converted to Windows, searched high and low for good sounds, and so many other things.

Many times David and I were talking at 2AM or later. He was incessant in his efforts to make this happen.

We all enjoy so much this fine game. It is time to offer our thanks and a big "SALUTE" to Mr. David Heath.

Had it not been primarily for him, we would not have SPWAW.

David and I don't always agree, but we are good friends, fellow soldiers in the fight to try to give you the best. I have to say to him "THANK YOU."

You've made this old gamer's heart very happy. Your work is appreciated!

I heartily second your sentiments, Bill. David has given us far more than we have a right to expect, especially for a game that is free. [&o]

I feel a post from myself is almost anticlimatic after WB and Gunny, but their words ring true--I thank you for the labor of love you've created in SPWAW, David. It's a wonderful game, still worthy of my limited time.

I have been proud to support Matrixgames for the past several years,(ever since they resurrected my favorite game:Steel Panthers).
Without Mr Heath,I would have never been able to associate myself (post Army) with such super good folks,*worldwide*,with similar historical interests.
It's not always about how you see yourself in the mirror every day. It's also about how others see you,and we see you just fine, sir.

[&o]Thank you Dave! Yeah, this game has come a long way from way back when you guys started this site. I still remember waiting for version 2.0! Just think until now (and rightfully so) the game was for free! How many hours have we all played this game is uncountable, and I think we have loved every minute of it (even when we lose a scenario). So thanks Dave!

Ditto. And although many people equate the greatest accomplishment of Matrix Games as SPWAW I'm confident that when all is said and done Combat Leader will be their legacy. While I wish it's development was moving faster I am reminded how long it took to get SPWAW to its current state (and it was built on an existing game). [:)]

Hello Guys

Well let me say thank you all very much for the Salute and here is one right back at you. SPWaW would not be what it is without you all. I love running Matrix Games and working with all of you... ok most of you <g>. Its always been the community that has made this game great and I am so thankful that I have been able to play a small part in the project. I made some very good friends thanks to SPWaW and I would not change it for the world. I must really say thank you to all who have posted and to the fans that have supported Matrix.

ALL OF YOU PLEASE TAKE A BOW!

Matrix could not have a better set of fans or a community. [:D]
