PH then Enterprise...?!

Right after PH, the KB runs into the Enterprise TF, then proceeds to trash it. Problem, I'm worried that I'm depleting the KB bomber groups of good pilots...any comments of the victory/losses due to combat?

Personally i would think the loss of @30 pilots is a small price to pay to sink the big-e.

The big E plus 3 CA and 1 DD it looks like. I will Pay 30 Pilots for that as the IJN. You are not going to ever get a better exchange than that.

You think 8 bombs and 5 torps is enough to take the Enterprise down?...While I have confirmation of the Salt Lake City and the Northampton sinking I don't have Enterprise confirmed.

I think that it should have been enough, I think I saw a couple ammo explosions occur while bombs hit as well. But thats just me.[:D]

To be honest, I was just really sad to see my already depleted air forces to get even more thrashed going through another air raid. But if the Enterprise does sink it was worth it.

But do not feel bad when are you going to get a better exchange rate? never sure its painful now but not as bad when there is 3 CLAA and a new BB the Enterprise and all the CA and DD's have upgraded their AAA and the fighter group is now sporting F6F's......

I think just looking at the combat report you have an great shot at the Big-E being a new reef. Is this pbem?. A way to check send KB to that hex if she is afloat she is not far and in the morning... But usually if not sunk she would have been spotted and attacked in the 2nd strike. Nothing draws attention like a burning carrier. Even Daves :) can hit one.

Nah, I haven't gotten around to starting a Pbem yet...I'm always worried that I won't have time or something...

I thought about seperating the BB's and other surface combatents to finish off the fleet but decided against it as this battle is going on only 5-6 hex's away from PH...[:@]

Just had a 1943 turn done. I lost 295 Japanese planes to sink an Allied troopship (confirmed) and heavily damaged another and 2 DD, that will probably sink/be scuttled too. And damaged some other ships, including putting a torpedo on the side of a CVL. Allied losses are 40 fighters.

So yes, 30 planes is a good price to kill a CV and 3 CA...

F6F's, VT's and 40MM are killers. its far "cheaper" now to to Take out the Enterprise then her spawn 18 months from Now..

I'm just sad that none of the BB's were sunk, just 6 heavily damaged but repairable...[:@] But taking out Enterprise helps my ego a bit. [:'(]

Evidently it was a good day for Japanese subs...[:D] too bad the Lexington was one hex from PH...well, it was only 22 flt dmg and 19 fire, its not as if it would sink from that...

Since you are playing against the AI you might have seen the message about Enterprize sinking, or might have not... It means nothing, as it is FOW. It can take up to 60 days to show up in intel screen as sunk, if it was sunk.
On the other hand, I think it would be better if it was just severely damaged, let's say 99 sys damage and 80 float, and it made to PH. with all intended upgrades and those damaged ships it would take AI a year and a half to repair it, and in the same time new Enterprize would be spawned as Essex class... Better to have the old one on map.
