The following will be a turn by turn report (hopefully!) of a battle between myself and HarryBanana. I (the axis) will report in this thread, Harry will report in a separate. (this is to insure our own honor!) heheh![:'(]

Feel free to comment, makes suggestions, point fingers or otherwise ridiucle/joke/jab fun at me during the course of the war! I would expect nothing less! [;)]

On to the reoprt!

AXIS BATTLE REPORT:

SPRING 1940 GERMANY

For Germany, I pretty much stuck to my standard attack plan which while extensive is not that difficult to pull off.

I went into to the Low countries with 3 arty and 2 inf. THis will give you a .81 chance of a loss of one inf. No big deal there.

Next I stepped into Denmark....no report there.

Then followed the Tac Bomber and Heavy bomber into France. I use this to knock out the arty and reduce the risk to my tanks rolling in. With those two air units, you can usually knock out the arty and "hit" another unit reducing its evasion. I follow this air strike by rolling in with 5 tanks. That is all it really takes (at a 1.04% loss of a tank) and the 4 supply you save by not sending in the other two tanks is valuable! Also, it is difficult to get those tanks out because the rails are smashed. I hate repairing rail if I dont have to and France I usually only repair one line to yellow.

After Vichy France, I decided to go ahead for Yugoslavia. My typical attack is to send the Tac bomber from Italy into Yugo and try to hit an infantry. This is usually successful. This, then activates the Axis minors. I follow up with the Rumanian fighter into Yugo to hit another (or just "attack") another infantry. Next a swarm of about 6 milita. Losses were 2 milita dead.

At this point I stop to consider my grand plan. Up to this point is simply training excercises!! I though about what my goals are and how I wanted to proceed. Here is what my grand strategic goal for Germany laid out in my "megolomaniac" mind!

1) Feint into Africa - appear strong for an attack into Suez
2) Prepare for Sea Lion with strong Tac and Ftr air power (usable in Russia if Sea lion fails)
3) Build heavy into Infantry and Artillery - Fast to produce.
4) Plan on a Summer 41 invasion of Russia
5) Research infantry/arty attack and evasion
6) Cooperate with Japan in Russia. Wait for Fall 1941 to hit with Japan.

These of course are BROAD goals that are open to operational changes.

With this in mind I decided to start my feint in Africa. I steamed out of Italy to smash the Egyptian Royal Navy. Had pretty good success and drove them off. I then landed in strength east of Cairo. I dropped supply enough for one major operation and (in my mind) wrote them off. They are to be my distraction of forces in Africa. Rommel if you will.

After this, I did my best to fend off against the Western Med attack by throwing a sub and some air units in Sardinia.

At this point I was pretty much done except for GARRISONING ITALY! Gotta make sure it is a fortress....

After that...On to Japan!

(My tiny brain can't seem to figure out how to post images to the forum. When I figure that out I will have screenshots) doh!!! [&:] argghhghgghh! how do you do it!!???

Hi Mike,
The pics need to be .jpg files. If you're using MS Paint choose save as and change the type to .jpg. Then in the forum message form there is a box to check to embed pic, check this. Then click on "click here to up load" browse to your file and volia![8D]

For your Yugo attack do you not find that striking first with the aircraft allows the leftover Yugo unit to upgrade to Wallies capabilities? Dose this make any difference?[&:]

PS Where's ma turn!![;)]

Barth!

Hey there! I did the .jpg thing, but I want the image to "show up" in the forum like the other fellas, not as an attachment per se....know what I mean?

As for your turn, I sent it to you! hehe! I will resend it again. I was wondering where my turn was! heheh![;)]

As for Yugoslavia, what I "usually" do is have the Italian fleet sit off the coast and have each plan go in with an offshore bombardment. This has the potential (.80 per attack) of hitting up to 3 of the infantry in yugo. Then, with a couple militia, or so...I walk in. In this particular war, though, I used the Italians to try to sweep the Med.

Later Barth!

Mike

You need to make sure the "Embed picture in post" box is checked. This will make the pic appear in the post and not just as an attachment.[8D]

I'll look for my turn.[8D]

Here is the attack into the Eastern Med and the landings in the Middle East

The goal here is to draw off Allied forces, make them use supplies and cause general alarm that I am heading for the middle east and africa....

JAPANESE BATTLE REPORT

Spring 1940

For Japan, I am trying a China annihilation route this time. I have tried other directions and have never really tried a "Capture all of China" gambit before. There is always the first time!

My goal here is to mass everything I have on the East Coast of China in the first turn. Then, follow it up by a massed attack straight toward Chungking. I will take land losses, but should be able mop them up by the middle of '41. I know I will lose the American resources and China will go to every turn production, but I think the total number of resoruces and factories will be worth it in the end. PLUS - there is another route into the heart of Russia through China if need be.

All of this China attacking will be at the cost of NOT attacking the U.S. I plan to smash into the South Pacific resources on my Winter 43 turn, just before they get awakened. I should be recouped from my China wanderings by then.

Here is a screen of mainland China. Notice the large mass of troops.

To achieve this large concentration of forces in China, I had to strip the Pacific Islands....

Useful now, but who knows later....

GERMAN REPORT

FALL 1940

The german fall turn was pretty boring. The Brits squashed my Med fleet and and poured troops into the Suez (pretty much as planned so far) They even moved a Carrier fleet that direction!

I tried hitting his Med fleets with air to no avail! Crappy rolls! arghhh! My bane! [:@]

Anyway, quiet in Europe, just building units and scientists making breakthroughs!

Japan Report

FALL 1940

Japan was a bit more active in combat this turn. I invaded the chinese coastal resource region (never can remember their names!) and took it with no casualties. Repaired the resources and 1 step of rail.

I sorted out some supplies onto far flung islands. I like to keep three (3) supply on every island in the pacific. This allows for a destroyers extended move if needed. (like a transport connection is lost!)

Other than that attack, the Japs were pretty quiet.

As the Japanese this time, I am also using a bit of misdirection and deceit! (go figure!)

[;)]

I am hitting a shotgun pattern of research projects. My goal is to have "no breakthroughs" for some time. I want to keep them thinking I am concentrating on units. Then, in one turn, pour the final one or two points into many projects and "poof" teched up Japan ready for the US.

As youcan see, I have about 6 or so projcts started....we will see how this goes....

wow, thats a lot of research for japan! I've tried that and I always end up regretting not devoting more to supply initially.

Yeah, it could blow up in my face! [:D]

However, I tend to hug the supply line between perfection and oblivion![8|]

I make sure that I end each turn with enough supply to cover partisan attacks and frontline garrisons...nothing else. Then, of course I produce more....

Worked for me so far.... (hint: "so far") !

Cool beans, Mike. Keep up the AAR. And at some point we need to battle again. I have played a few more games now and although still screwing up, I'm up for the challenge.

THanks for the compliment![:)]

I am up for a game anytime! Who said eight PBEM games at once was too much! (maybe my therapist, and wife, and dog......but no one else!)[:'(]

Later!
